Special Lunch Order Day

It's always a favourite day of the term. Thanks to Ann for the wonderful job she does in making hundreds of yummy lunch orders for us to enjoy. Hotdogs, TNT and lemonade seem to be the most popular orders.

Numeracy Week

Each grade in the school has made a display outside their room with maths questions. We had fun trying to solve each maths problem. Happy Numeracy Week!

JSC Make-A-Wish Disco

After school on I went to the disco at 4:30 on Friday, August 26th. The disco was in the hall. I got a glowstick at the big disco. I gave the green ticket to Mrs Bennett. I danced with Hollie and Daisy and Blake and Skye. I got an Icy Twist too. I really loved the song 'Who Let the Dogs Out?' We were raising money for very sick kids. I was feeling very excited and happy.      Tameka

On Friday Lara Primary School had the disco. When I was at the disco I felt great because Willow was there, and a little bit nervous because there were a lot of people there. Me and Franki were playing with Cody. We were playing chasey. I loved the disco.        Seona

On Friday all of the grade preps, ones and twos went to the disco. At the disco you could get choc-chip cookies, choc-chip muffins, an Icy Twist and a drink bottle. You could get glow sticks too. I was feeling so excited to go to the disco. It was awesome because I got to dance with my friends and do the Time Warp and the Macarena.       Matilda

On Friday, August 26th, we had a disco! Everyone was there. Well, not everyone because some kids didn't have tickets to go. The disco was the greatest! You can buy some glow sticks. There is blue, yellow, purple, orange and green. There was the Time Warp dance. The thing that surprised me were the lights at the back of the hall. Gus

Book Week

During Book Week our grade 2s practised reading in phrased and fluent voices with intonation and expression. We made our reading purposeful by sharing our books with the prep children. Those cute, little preps then read books to us. We had a little time left over for colouring, drawing and games. It was so much fun being the big buddy for a change!

Fractions of a Number

We started by sharing 24 'cookies' between two teddies - they got half each. 1/2 of 24 was 12.
Next we shared 24 cookies between four teddies - they got a quarter each. 1/4 of 24 was 6.
Then we shared 24 cookies between eight teddies - they got one-eighth each. 1/8 of 24 was 3.

Then the children had a turn with their own teddies.

Great work, kids!

More on fractions

After learning how to make a fraction of a shape, we are now moving on to making a fraction of a number. We started this last week by reading through 'When the Door Bell Rang' and sharing out pretend cookies.

Lara's Got Talent Grand Final

We were so proud to have Emmersyn and Hollie represent the grade 2s at the Lara's Got Talent Grand Final on Thursday. They put together a fantastic gymnastics routine that they shared with the whole school. Congratulations girls. You were great!

Book Week

Congratulations to the children from 2B, 2J and 2N who shared their favourite class book at a special whole school assembly celebrating Book Week. Our favourites were 'The Enchanted Woods' and 'The BFG'. Parents, do you remember reading these books when you were young?

Congratulations also to our very own grade 2 reading superstar who has borrowed more books than any other student in the school - 78 books!
