Bluearth in Term 3

It's that exciting time of term again, when we find out what our new Bluearth games are. Drum roll, please...

Monday: skills practice (photographed below)
Tuesday: Chain Tiggy
Wednesday: Dog Pound
Thursday: Skittle Soccer
Friday: Run the Gauntlet (our fave!)

Bluearth is sooo much fun! It also gives us a chance to practise our Bluearth skills:
1) no fussing
2) be your own umpire
3) try your best
You can use this language at home, too.

Exercise is also a fabulous way to switch on our brains ready for learning. That's why we use it to start every day!

Junior School Council Fundraiser - Pyjamarama and Animal Onesie Day

Our grade 2s enjoyed dressing up in their ‘winter woolies’ - pyjamas and onesies - to raise money for 'The Thin Green Line Foundation'. The foundation is run by Sean Willmore to raise awareness and funds to help train and support rangers to protect animals from poachers. For more information on this foundation, visit: https://www.thingreenline.org.au.

I like wearing my pyjamas to school on Friday. I wore my skeleton pyjamas. I got a donut but didn't get a Big M.
Jamie

On Friday June 17th it was Pyjamarama Day. I was wearing my Minnie Mouse PJs and my pink dressing gown. My brother, Corbin, did not wear his right PJs. He was wearing monsters when he was supposed to be wearing Ninja Turtles. My sister, Ivy, had Elsa PJs and white lovehearts and pink dressing gown. I had an awesome time. So did my brother and sister. We raised money for 'The Thin Green Line'.
Matilda

On Pyjamarama Day I wore a monkey onesie. It was really hot in it and I lasted all day. I had a donut and strawberry milk. I enjoyed it. We got to watch a movie because it was a wet day timetable.

On Friday the 17-6-2016 it was Pyjamarama Day. I wore Super Girl PJs. We donated the money to 'The Thin Green Line'. My sister wore Hello Kitty PJs. They were red. My brother wore tracksuit pants with his PJ top. I got an iced donut with pink icing and a strawberry milk. It was delicious, amazing and super! My brother had a strawberry milk, so did my sister. 2J watched a movie because there were donuts and milk all over our tables! It was funny! It was a busy day! IT WAS AMAZING!
Winnie

On Pyjamarama Day I was in my 'Wake Me Up on Saturday' PJs. I got a banana donut and a chocolate Big M. We raised money for the 'Thin Green Line'.

Forces at work (and play!)

When I was with Mr Beck I did an experiment. We pushed a ball into the water. The water pushed the ball up and gravity pulled the ball down. The basketball went up high but the tennis ball just floated.
Declan

We did inquiry with Mr Beck. We pushed the ball down and the water pushed it back up again. When I put my hand in, I froze!

Floating Ball
By Franki
You will need: some foil, some paper and a straw.
1. You need a straw.
2. You get a piece of paper and fold it into a 3D cone and sticky tape it to the straw.
3. You get a piece of foil and roll it into a ball.
4. You get the rooled up ball of foil and put it in the cone that you made. You practise blowing it in the air.

In Inquiry we are learning about push/pull forces. One day we went to Buddies and made a floating ball. But sadly mine didn't work. So I made one at home. That worked! The force of air pushed the ball up, and gravity pulled it down again.
Abbey

One day we went to our Buddies to make a floating ball activity. The materials were: pen, paper, coloured straw (or a plain straw), scissors and foil.

Paper helicopters
We made paper helicopters. We used specially cut and folded paper and a paper clip. We experimented to find ways to make the helicopter fall to the ground more slowly. The push of air slowed the fall, but the pull of gravity was always stronger.
