2J and 5/6P - honouring Mrs O'Brien and our Serendip program

I wore a bright, colourful skirt. We danced to "Home Among the Gum Trees". It was fun with 2J and 5/6P. My nan, mum and Jay came to see me.  Rachael

At our assembly item I was so excited and nervous. I saw my mum in the audience. I wore bright clothes. We sang "Home Among the Gum Trees".  Gus

I wore a grey costume because I was a kangaroo. My favourite part was the dance because I was at the front of the stage and I saw my mum and dad. I was feeling excited and nervous. It was awesome.   Winnie

On Friday 2J and 5/6P had an assembly performance. I was a school kid. I said, "That is what Mrs O'Brien would have said." My costume was: school clothes. My mum was there. I felt excited.  Markus

On Friday we had our assembly performance. Our assembly was about Serendip and Mrs O'Brien too. We had kangaroos in our performance. The dancers wore bright clothes. We had to get dressed. The girls had to get dressed in Mrs Newman's room and the boys had to get dressed in Mrs Bennett's room. We walked to the hall. Everyone saw us. We were embarrassed.  The dancers were at the front. The dancers' names are: Gus, me and Rachael. Our buddy grade is 5/6P, and our grade is 2J. My mum was there and my brothers were there.   Franki

Today I am writing about our assembly item. When I was on stage I felt super excited. Also, just if you were wondering when it was on, it was Friday 26-2-2016. I was dressed up as Mrs Bennett. I had a pink dress on with a blue pair of jeggings and a pair of glasses. I also had a big bun on the very top of my head. Our assembly performance was based on Mrs O'Brien leaving the school. The two songs were called "Home Among the Gum Trees' and "Land Down Under". I saw my mum and both of my nannas and my big brother, Wil. I had a very special speaking role in our assembly performance. The part I loved the most was that my buddies were there with me. I am also going to tell you something that will help you if you don't want to ever go on a stage. It is this: just pretend that you are going to be the best kid in the school. I also loved that Mrs Bennett let me use her high heels.  Abbey

Good bye, Mrs O'Brien

It was a happy, sad day for Lara Primary School on 19-2-2016, as Mrs O'Brien had her last day as a teacher. She has been a wonderful teacher for our school and will always be remembered for the exceptional work she has done in ICT and in setting up the Serendip Multimedia program and Serendip app. What better way to send her off than to have the children dress up in Serendip theme and donate a gold coin to the sanctuary.

Students of the Week

Each Tuesday afternoon we have a grade 2 assembly. The highlight of the assembly is when two worthy children from each grade receive a certificate. Here are our recipients so far. Smile for the camera, superstars!

Nouns

In English we are learning good old grammar! We are learning about nouns and adjectives. We know that nouns are naming words and that they can be a person, place or thing. We know that proper nouns are specific names and they need to begin with a capital letter. We also know that adjectives are used to describe a noun and to make the noun (and our writing!) much more interesting. We had fun labelling some nouns in our room.

Bluearth

It's great having Mr Beck in the grade 2 team. His knowledge of Bluearth is a big bonus for us all as we get fit, get along and have loads of fun!
